Modest Solaroofing Completes Solar PV Installation for Hörmann Middle East & Africa
Hörmann’s Factory & Warehouse Buildings in Jebel Ali Free Zone are now completely watertight and powered by clean energy generated from solar panels

Modest Solaroofing, a leader in roof repairs, waterproofing and solar solutions, announces the successful completion of the roof transformation project for Hörmann Middle East & Africa, one of the world’s leading suppliers of doors and gates. With their factory & headquarters for the MEA region based in Jebel Ali Free Zone, the German-based multinational company has embraced sustainability with this significant investment in renewable energy.
The solar PV system, connected to the grid under DEWA's Shams Dubai net metering program, generates over 1 MWh of clean energy annually, significantly reducing carbon emissions by nearly 750 tons per year. The clean energy produced covers 85% of Hörmann’s electricity demand, resulting in substantial savings of approximately 500,000 AED each year.
The first phase of the project involved a comprehensive roof repair and waterproofing treatment of the entire roof area for both of Hörmann’s buildings. This crucial step ensured the roofs are robust and durable enough to support the solar PV system for its entire lifespan. The full roof waterproofing was carried out using rubberized elastomeric sealants from TOPPS® Products USA, a roof sealant & coatings manufacturer that has demonstrated a proven track record in the region over the past 30 years.
After ensuring that the roof was completely watertight, a solar PV system was installed on the roof which features over 1,100 of the latest technology solar panels manufactured by Jinko Solar and four ultra high-efficiency string inverters from the German manufacturer SMA. The solar panels were securely mounted on the roof sheets using safe and long-lasting watertight methods. To ensure worker safety during both installation and ongoing maintenance, a permanent roof lifeline system was installed.
